Job description

Purpose of Employment:

 The purpose of the role is to maximize availability of the plant and processes and ensure they
operate effectively, efficiently and safely with a behavioral commitment to the Knauf values.
Reporting Line(s):
 Function and / or Admin Engineering Manager


Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Equipment Failures - Carry out effective, efficient fault finding and problem resolution to root
cause where possible on a wide range of complex systems in a continuous process
environment so that they maintain the plant to deliver the target operating efficiencies.
2. Safety & Compliance - Apply, and ensure compliance, with the Company’s Health & Safety
and Environmental Policy and Procedures so that a safe and secure environment is
maintained.
3. Budget Control - To support the Engineering group by following all financial control procedures
so that the Engineering Team has an accurate and up to date picture of current spend vs.
budget.
4. Continuous Improvement – Actively engaging in plant continue improvement (CI) activities.
5. Physical Infrastructure - Support the Engineering Manager in keeping the Site, buildings and
fabric, physical infrastructure and Manufacturing and Assembly assets and equipment, in a
well maintained and safe condition by reporting issues and carrying out remedial repairs
where possible.
6. Preventive Maintenance – Design and review the preventive maintenance program associated
with automation system.
7. Resource Utilization – Ensure effective utilization of the day control technician who will report
to you directly and the shift electrical & control technician indirectly.
8. Troubleshooting & rectification of any control/automation related problems.
9. Improvement of any control/automation related problems.
10. Establish, review & improve preventive maintenance programs for all machinery.
11. Establish, review & improve LOTO for all machinery.
12. Establish/Review spare parts quantity and availability.
13. Work with maintenance engineers for closing work orders on timely basis. Ensure useful
information have been entered into the SAP system.
14. Provide training to other staffs.
15. Work/liaise with Maintenance engineers for manpower.

16. Provide guidance/knowledge to staffs to execute & complete jobs effectively with quality.
17. Liaise with KI staffs for any defects/improvement/preventive/corrective jobs.
18. Liaise with suppliers/contractors. (sourcing/evaluation/job execution)
19. Ensure all staffs/contractors are complied with KI’s safety policy/regulations/procedures.
20. Assume the role of maintenance engineer when others are away.
21. Any assignment that will be assigned by the Engineering Manager.
22. Stand-by to response to call-in for rectification of emergency breakdown/problems and work at
extended hour.
23. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications and Experience Required:
● The candidate should possess a degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Industrial
Automation/Control Engineering with minimum 5 years of working experience in related field is
required.
● Candidate with a Diploma in Electronic/Electrical, Industrial/Automation/Control Engineering
from a reputable institution with 10 years of working experience will be considered.
Required Skills:
● Working experience in Siemens S7 PLCs, WinCC, Starter manager & HMIs and Siemens
Drive. Ability to modify & upload programs into PLCs.
● Ability in troubleshooting and rectification of automation system such as pneumatic &
hydraulic
cylinders, sensors, control valves, PLCs, conveyors and etc.
● Experience with SAP would be preferable but not essential.
● Excellent verbal and writtern communication skills. Solid problem-solving abilities. Good
leadership and self-motivated with the ability to work on an independent basis.
● Language: Able to communicate fluently in English. Any other language is a plus;
● Independent, organized, proactive;
● Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team, work within deadlines
● Having the ability to create and maintain a positive relationship
● To be assertive and have self-confidence in presenting and supporting conclusions, having
communication and interpersonal skills
● Be able to multi-task and prioritize work (different projects and technologies)
● Ability to be a creative thinker; search solutions and simplify the situation
